Why Cleansing Your Colon Is So Important

X-Ray of IntestinesThe colon is the last part of the digestive system. It extracts the remaining nutrition from the solid wastes, and reabsorbs them through the lining of the colon into the blood stream. The colon then eliminates the waste from the body. When your colon works correctly, the transit of food through your body will be less than 24 hours. In some people, this “stool transit time” is 60 to 70 hours, and sometimes longer. The reason most people’s colons don’t work properly are largely due to stress, pollution, poor diet, dehydration, and lack of exercise.

When the colon doesn’t work correctly the feces become impacted and start to putrefy and encrust the lining of the colon. This results in the colon building up toxins in the body. When the colon becomes encrusted it absorbs both nutrients and the toxins that the body is trying to get rid of.

The average person may have between 10 to 25 pounds of dried up fecal matter in their colon.

Body Pollution

We are all exposed to thousands of toxins through the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, and the drugs we take. In addition, we are eating more sugar and processed foods than ever before in human history. We also regularly abuse our bodies with various stimulants and sedatives.

Mix all of this in with our environment. The U.S. industries alone, manufacture over 6 trillion pounds of 9,000 different chemicals a year. These toxins are stored in our liver, kidneys, brain, fat cells, and other tissues in our body.

When the colon is not working correctly these toxins build up in our bodies and can contribute to many different types of illnesses. For example, Arsenic is considered a lethal poison in large doses, but it is found in car exhaust; pesticides that we spray on our plants; it is given to chickens to cause them to gain weight; it is found in cigarette smoke; and many other places where we eat, drink and breath.
